A question of honesty
The tendency among artists to avoid speaking the truth seems to be increasing day by day. Creativity, honesty and moral courage are equally important qualities for an artist. Without the courage to acknowledge the truth, the depth and integrity of one's artistic identity become questionable.
Through Dulonchapa Magazine, we have to engage with many artists on a regular basis. We select artists for feature coverage based on specific criteria, and once the schedules of Dulonchapa Venus and the artist align, a date and time are arranged.
We are particularly mindful of the physical well-being of senior artists. Illness is a natural part of life, and as people grow older, various health complications can arise. Therefore, when an artist requests to reschedule due to health concerns, we treat the matter with understanding and respect.
However, it becomes embarrassing when, shortly afterward, we discover the same artist actively attending an exhibition as a guest. The issue is not whether they attended or declined our invitation; the real issue is honesty. If someone is unwilling or unable to participate, it is far more respectful to communicate that directly.
Art is not only about aesthetics and creative expression; it is also about character, values, and a commitment to truth. The courage to speak honestly remains one of the most essential qualities of an artist.
